Healthcare workers are to protest against Government proposals to abolish bursaries for student nurses, midwives and allied health professionals outside Downing Street on Saturday 9 January. Protesters believe proposed changes could leave students saddled with as much as £65,000 of debt. A debate will be held in Parliament on Monday after a petition opposing the proposals attracted more than 150,000 signatures.
