Almost 50,000 students at 129 universities were caught cheating in the space of three years, new statistics show. A total of 362 students (1% of those found to have cheated) were dismissed as a result.

The figures, obtained via The Times freedom of information requests, also indicated that non-EU students accounted for a proportionately high amount of those found guilty.
