Sir Simon Hughes, formerly Justice Minister and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, has been appointed as Head of Public Affairs at The Open University. Simon takes on the role as maternity cover on a year’s contract. He will support the Vice-Chancellor, Peter Horrocks, and report into the university’s Director of Communications, Lucian Hudson. He will lead the university’s public affairs team, which forms part of the Communications Unit.
