Universities UK International: The Go International 2018 conference
Spending time overseas is exciting, it broadens perspectives, but it isn’t easy. The ability to cope with challenging circumstances and the development of soft skills is what, in part, makes international experiences so enriching. We know that students who study, work and volunteer abroad are likely to have better academic and employment outcomes. Join us on 10 May at Stand Out: Strategies for Success, the Go International 2018 conference to join the discussion to help shape the future of outward mobility.
Countries around the world are investing heavily in outward student mobility to help internationalise their next generations. But in the UK, only 6.6% of UK students currently go abroad as part of their studies. Our fourth annual conference will demonstrate how the UK higher education sector is working collectively to address this deficit.
In 2017, Universities UK International launched the Go International: Stand Out campaign. In partnership with universities, sector bodies, government, employers and international partners, the campaign aims to double the percentage of UK undergraduate students who study, work or volunteer abroad as part of their studies by 2020.
The Stand Out: Strategies for Success conference gives delegates the chance to:
– Find out what universities are pledging towards the 2020 goal
– Meet key campaign stakeholders
– Learn about the widening participation agenda at the campaign’s heart
– Discuss how to incentivise and market mobility in a challenging political and economic context
– Consider what more can be done to reach historically underrepresented groups.
UUKi will also unveil new materials to help spread key campaign messages, including a downloadable digital toolkit of promotional materials and new research into the impact of mobility for underrepresented groups.
