The latest QS world league table is out
Full details of the rankings can be found at the QS website. A summary of the world top 10 follows where we find MIT retaining the top spot for the fourth year in a row and some other minor shuffling in the top placings. The ranking also sees ETH Zurich in the top 10 for the first time.
The ranking uses six performance indicators to assess institutions’ “global reputation, research impact, staffing levels and international complexion”.

As in 2014 four out of the top 10 are from the UK which remains n impressive performance.
Top UK universities
Although there is one departure with QMUL dropping out of the top 100 there is some fairly significant movement in the placings.
Some of these moves are at least partly due to changes in the way in which research citations are assessed this year which have tended to favour institutions with major social science and arts provision at the expense of those with more substantial life sciences offers. Hence there are big leaps for LSE, St Andrews, Durham and Warwick.
