It’s often said that no-one watches BBC’s Newsnight. It’s half true: the programme has a small but hardcore audience of key influencers and decision-makers which is why its investigations into policy issues always matter. A former education correspondent for the FT, Chris Cook is well-versed in HE debates, and his well-informed, even wonky work on Newsnight and for the BBC website has an ability to make a real splash. It’s only a shame that more people aren’t watching – the mainstream media needs more wonks.
