UHR Strategic Projects and Research Manager

Expires

5th July 2021

Universities Human Resources (UHR) is the professional association for higher education HR and related staff in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Our members are the HR staff of almost all UK higher education institutions.

We are looking for a strategic thinker who can think creatively to produce solutions that are cost-effective and will work in the HE context. The Strategic Projects and Research Manager will scope and undertake research and strategic projects for UHR, as part of the implementation of the UHR plan. This role is for the specific purpose of supporting the Executive Director to deliver elements of UHR’s plans in the next two years.

This will suit you if you are looking for a strategic, varied role that gives a national perspective wider than your own employer, which will equip you for a more senior and/or strategic role.

We are open to this role being worked flexibly. The initial budget for this role is for 1.0 FTE for one year. However, we are open to this being worked flexibly, for example 0.6 FTE over 18 months, or term time only, school or other flexible days or hours, or possibly as job share, as long as you are available for key meetings and activities, and outputs are delivered on time. We would also consider a secondment from a university HR department.

There may be the option to extend the contract at the end of this initial fixed term, but this will depend on a number of factors and no guarantees can be given by UHR at this stage.

The post-holder reports to the Executive Director and has no staff management responsibilities. The role will be home-based (a laptop and phone will be provided), with occasional travel to the PHES office in Loughborough, and if necessary, to UHR events or meetings in other parts of the UK.

UHR is a Professional HE Services Ltd (PHES) organisation and offers competitive salaries benchmarked to the University of Sheffield grading structure (grade 8 £41,526 – £55,751 pro-rata pa, dependent on qualifications and experience). A defined contribution pension scheme is offered with 7.5% employee and 16% employer contribution rates, together with life insurance. We offer 30 days’ holiday (pro-rata) plus bank holidays and discretionary days’ office closure. Support for CPD and appropriate training will be given.

We are committed to equality of opportunity, to eliminating discrimination and to creating an inclusive working environment for all. We, therefore, encourage candidates to apply irrespective of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion and belief, gender identity, sex, or sexual orientation.

To apply, complete the application form and email it to recruitment@uhr.ac.uk.
