An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Advice Centre Manager to lead the Students’ Union Advice Service team across our campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford and support the advisers on our London campus.

Our Advice Service is free, confidential, and impartial and accredited with AQS – Advice Quality Standard. We advise, support and represent students on wellbeing and academic problems such as assessment offences, student disciplinary, grievances, complaints, mitigation and appeals. We provide advice and information in person, by email, telephone and through our website.

In addition to providing advice to students during periods of high demand, you will also represent the Students’ Union on academic committees as required. As a member of the Union’s management team, you will be required to lead on the continued development of Students’ Union Advice, in line with strategic objectives, as well as producing regular reports relating to the service.

Experience in advice or support work and excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. You must be organised, computer literate, demonstrate attention to detail and strong leadership skills.

We offer generous holiday entitlement, a contributory pension scheme and training and development opportunities.

We have the Investors in People quality mark and are committed to equal opportunities in employment – we welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We exist to represent approximately 20,000 students at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Our activities are managed and supported by 45 professional staff members and 55 part-time student staff who work for us alongside their studies. We have a turnover of approximately £2 million per annum and our activities are spread across campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough.

In addition to our core purpose of being the legitimate representative body for students at ARU, we provide a range of services; academic and welfare advice, support to students running societies and volunteering opportunities in and around the campuses. We also run two bars, a restaurant and a campus shop. Whilst we play an important student representative role that sometimes sees us challenge the University, we work closely with them and support areas of delivery within their strategy.
