The opportunity:

We intend to strengthen our Welsh translation services to enable the University to continue to be a bilingual institution, which complies with Welsh Language Standards.

In this position, you will be part of a busy, customer-focused translation team, working across the organisation. The position will include working from home and working in the office.

Part of the University’s Welsh Language Unit, the post holder will be an enthusiastic member of the team, who can work under pressure in a professional environment to provide first class translations promptly. In addition to excellent translation skills, you should have relevant experience of dealing with translation requests, and experience of managing your workload effectively in accordance with various deadlines.

The post holder will also assist the Translation Service Manager with any duties related to the role e.g. contribute to reviewing translation guidelines, supervise the work of less experienced translators, contribute to determining the names of campaigns, projects, strategies and public material.

What we are looking for:

Translation and proofreading skills of the highest standard.

The ability to work under pressure and to complete work promptly in an organized and disciplined manner.

Excellent proofreading skills and the ability to approve final versions of publications, demonstrating high levels of accuracy and precision within very tight deadlines.

Experience of working with translation memory software packages.

Experience of supervising and proofreading the work of other less experienced translators and offering guidance and support to those translators as required.
