We are working hard to ensure our students are firmly at the heart of the University and that they are partners in their own education.   We are investing heavily in redesigning systems and processes so that students receive excellent service from first enquiry and application, through to graduation and alumni.  As part of this the University has recently established a new Student Services department, charged with make our aspiration of transforming student facing services real.

The Head of Student Service will play a crucial role in the management of the new department.  They will provide strategic leadership and management to staff within the University’s Service Centres and ensure the effective development and delivery of student journey services. The role holder will lead one of the Service Centres (University Park Central), including responsibility for staff deployed in school located roles associated with the Centre.

This role will influence and shape services through continuous improvement to meet current and future needs of the University and will have a significant impact on the direction, strategy, objectives and results of the University. Crucial to the success of this role is the ability to build effective relationships with Faculties and Schools, ensuring effective support is delivered to both students and academic colleagues. This is an opportunity to lead a new team built on principles of people development; service excellence and continuous improvement. Candidates will have a good first degree (or equivalent) and / or substantial management experience of projects, people and resources.  They will also have a proven track record of extensive relevant work experience in a related field.  The role holder will shape and lead the new Service Centre team, using and sharing best practice and developing innovative responses to complex challenges. They will possess the ability to build credible and long term relationships with University stakeholders and students. Extensive experience in leading student administration in an HE setting will be combined with budget planning and organising skills, a drive for results and quality focus which promotes excellence in service delivery and continuous improvement.
