We have been investing significantly in our strategic approach to support student retention, attainment, and progression and we are now looking to recruit a highly experienced individual to provide leadership in to drive this critical area forward.
The Head of Student Retention and Achievement will report directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Students and Teaching and will build on our work to date to develop strategies and initiatives to maximise student retention and achievement for a diverse student population. The role holder has the opportunity to collaborate with Faculties and Professional Services across the University to ensure we can support strong academic progress and retention.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record and strategic leadership in initiatives and activities that increase student retention therefore strong knowledge and experience in this area of expertise as well as significant understanding of research and best practice is essential.
Here at the University of Central Lancashire we have just embarked on a new Strategic Plan that will take us to 2028, a celebration of our 200 year anniversary of widening access and participation and of educational opportunity and success for all. We have a broad and complex course portfolio which supports students from all walks of life. Our most recent investment in a multi-million-pound Student Centre and University Square has not only changed the landscape in Preston but also makes a bold and visual statement placing the student experience literally at the core of our operations. It is an exciting time to join us as this senior role will play a critical role in helping the university achieve its vision and ambition, for all students, irrespective of background, to succeed and thrive in education, at work, and for life.
