We are seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Education Researcher who can lead the University of Lincoln’s Higher Education Research Institute to the next phase of its development. Research around Student Engagement is a key aspect of this post as the university seeks to maintain its sector-leading position in this area.

The Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute (LHERI) was established 18 months ago to undertake and facilitate research that makes a significant and innovative contribution to knowledge and understanding in Higher Education policy and practice. A key aspect of this role is leading the Institutes currently funded projects, as well as actively seeking funding for new projects and building internal HE research capacity.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Development and Engagement), this role will lead the development of expertise and impact in HE research through guidance and support to colleagues and by facilitating effective internal and external partnerships. A Fellowship network of the Institute and internal funding to pump prime small research projects support these activities, in addition to an online peer reviewed journal.

The University of Lincoln has a focus and reputation around its Student Engagement strategy. Students are at the heart of everything we do, and this role will be key in evaluating and disseminating these strategies. Experience and outputs in research in this area is therefore desired in the role holder.

Excellent leadership and team working skills are essential to this role, with experience of successful application and leadership of research grants and publishing in high impact journals. There is an expectation that the role holder will be returnable in REF 2021. Line management and mentoring/developing colleagues research skills will also be required.

The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, beautiful, safe and friendly city.
