Director People and Organisation

London South Bank University seeks a Director of People and Organisation, to lead the 35-strong Human Resources function across the LSBU Group, which comprises the University, two schools, an Institute for Technical and Professional Education, South Bank Enterprises, and from February 2019, Lambeth College of Further Education. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the appointee will develop and deliver a forward-looking People Strategy for the LSBU Group. The postholder will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient HR operational service and shaping a customer-centric, trusting and inclusive culture within HR and across the organisations.
The Director will work collaboratively in support of the HR and wider institutional priorities, and will serve as trusted adviser on HR matters to the Vice Chancellor, Executive Team and other senior leaders.

The ideal candidate will have extensive senior-level generalist HR experience, possibly with an organisation development background, within educational, public-sector or commercial environments of comparable scale and complexity. A strategic mind-set will be critical, as will effective relationship-building, creative problem-solving, and strong influencing skills. Candidates must demonstrate a strong personal values set, as well as the ability to lead, develop and motivate a team with a strong customer focus. The successful candidate must bring vision and ambition to the role. The appointee must command the confidence of senior colleagues. Experience in, or a demonstrable affinity for, post-compulsory education is essential.
