As the Director of UK Government Relations, you will work within the Corporate Legal team, where you will be responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated UK government relations strategy.
Key Responsibilities
·       Build, develop, manage, and coordinate relationships with key UK GR stakeholders, including high-profile trade associations, across the full portfolio of Pearson’s interests to build relationships to identify and pursue opportunities and mitigate risk across the five verticals.
·       Represent Pearson at speaking events, in meetings with government officials and stakeholders and in association and partnership activities
·       Create and lead execution of external engagement plan featuring consultants and business leaders, managing external GR agency to maximize support and impact.
·       Join up with UK Comms to ensure consistency of internal and external messaging and to cocreate campaigns to promote positioning and business goals.
·       Develop key metrics and analysing insights to inform on international communications and government relations strategies and tactics.
·       Track, monitor, advocate and report on relevant legislation and regulatory proceedings and assist in the drafting and delivery of oral and written testimony and ensure compliance with lobbying and reporting rules and regulations.
·       Provide tactical support and strategic counsel on all government relations issues to senior leaders.

Education & Experience Requirements
·       A strong background in UK government and policy with proven experience, at least partly in the Education space.
·       Business Acumen – Experience, insight and knowledge to understand market potential and political risk and opportunity and translate this into strategic GR work that supports the corporate strategy in support of learners.
·       Ability to speak publicly, often before senior government, stakeholder groups and education leaders.
·       Strong writing and communication skills.
·       Ability to manage external consultants to maximize impact of company goals
·       Extensive knowledge of UK government operations, working knowledge of education policy issues, relationships across the federal government, and a track record of excellent internal and external stakeholder management at all levels
Additional Information
·       Must be willing to travel within the US and UK when needed (<15% travel)
·       This role will be hybrid working from home and at our office at 80 Strand, London.
·       The salary range for this role is between 155-175k depending on experience
