We are looking for a passionate, values-driven and successful individual to join us as Director of Communications and External Relations. This high profile and important role within the University will be responsible for leading creative, impactful and integrated communications, marketing, student recruitment and admission activities that will help to deliver the University’s ambitious strategic objectives.

The University of Winchester is a successful and unique institution, with a strong community feel, a deep commitment to values and a passion for sustainability and social justice. With growing student numbers and an expanding portfolio and estate, these are exciting times to be joining the University.

Building on recent successes – such as our rebrand and website launch – and working with a strong team, you will help continue to cement Winchester as the university of choice for a growing number of UK, EU and International students. You will play a key role in building our reputation and brand – within the UK and globally – through expert marketing and communications advice and smart, creative strategies.

Working alongside the Senior Management Team and with a strong Department, you will:

maintain and build the University’s reputation through first-class communications and brand management
oversee a data-led student journey, using market intelligence and research to advise on the development of the University’s academic portfolio
refine and personalise an outstanding student journey from the point of initial contact right through to a lifelong relationship with the institution.

You will have significant experience of successfully leading a strong team, thinking strategically and delivering successful and impactful campaigns and projects. You will be driven by data and getting results. With first-class interpersonal and communication skills, you will be particularly successful at bringing people on board and driving through continual improvement and development.

One of our core values is ‘individuals matter’. As an employee at the University of Winchester, we are committed to your wellbeing and development.  You will have access to a wide range of benefits and support including complimentary access to the GetActive initiative, comprehensive staff development programme, generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme.  Further details can be found on our website.
