Library and Learning Services is seeking two highly motivated academic librarians.

Vacancy 1

This post is responsible for supporting the Faculty of Health, Education and Society. You will undertake collection development, integrated information and digital literacy teaching and faculty liaison. This is a full time (37 hours) permanent post.

Vacancy 2

This post will support partnership activities and include managing partner approval processes, liaising with partner staff and students and coordinating cross-department partner support. This is a full time (37 hours) fixed-term post (12 months).

The posts are based at the Waterside Campus. The University supports working flexibly, on-site and remotely, in line with post requirements. These can be discussed with the recruiting manager. Both posts include 23 days holiday, additional closed days, bank holidays and a local government pension scheme.

About you

For either post, you will demonstrate experience in building relationships with academic and professional services colleagues, developing and delivering high-quality teaching and training and a strong commitment to delivering student-focused services.

You will have a qualification in Library and Information Science or an equivalent level of skill and knowledge working in the library or information sector. You will have experience designing and delivering information and digital literacy skills training and using technology to support teaching and learning activities. You will show strong skills in written and oral communication, an eye for detail and have a self-motivated and organised approach to work.

Library/Information Science qualification or equivalent level of skill and knowledge working in libraries or the information sector

Library and Learning Services (LLS) consists of the University Library, Research Support, Learning Development, Educational Linguistics, Learning Technology and the Institute of Learning and Teaching. The Library provides adaptable and IT rich learning environments, with access to print and online resources, including University research outputs, alongside expert support in finding information. Learning Development and Educational Linguistics offer flexible opportunities for students to develop a broad range of academic skills, while Learning Technology manages NILE, the University’s virtual learning environment, and supports the use of technology in learning and teaching. The Institute of Learning and Teaching lead on effective and innovative learning practices.
