The purpose of the StARS transformation programme is to deliver, in partnership with Colleges and wider-University Professional Services, a comprehensive review of student-related administration to simplify and, where appropriate, standardize processes in conjunction with a refresh to the student record system, Banner, to enhance the effectiveness of our services and deliver a more responsive and personalised approach for both students and staff.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the StARS Change Manager will be responsible for leading the business change workstream, managing the operational activities associated with the user-engagement agenda, developing an appropriate communications strategy for the workstream and implementing and delivering process improvement methodologies, practices and training activities across all phases of the Programme. This will require close working with the Programme Lead, Programme Manager and Project workstream leads, the senior users for Registry, Colleges and Admissions, key staff from IT Services, as well as with academic and professional services colleagues from across the University in order to shape the change agenda of the initiative, ensuring it delivers against the strategic priorities of the University.
The StARS Change Manager will be the key contact for all business change associated with the StARS programme. The Change workstream will include a number of posts that will report directly to the Change Manager, principally a Communications and Engagement Officer and a Training Manager although this may increase as the programme develops. The StARS Change Manager will be accountable for creating the process and business change deliverables in conjunction with the workstream leads and ensuring these are baselined in the programme/project plans and validated at the Programme Delivery Board.
Whilst the StARS Change Manager will work full time on StARS, the post holder will also have close links with the University’s Strategic Change Team which is responsible for supporting a portfolio of complex change initiatives of strategic importance across the University and, to facilitate this, there will be an indirect reporting line to the Head of the Strategic Change Team.
