Matthew Beach is a postgraduate research student in Geography at Queen Mary University of London. His doctoral research focuses on how the material transformations and circulations of jellyfish, their connective tissues, and collagen-derived materials reshape both what gelatinous life can become and how practice produces knowledge about it. He was previously a research fellow in Queen Mary’s Department of Sociology, Politics and International Relations in 2025, and a sabbatical officer in its students’ union in 2023/24.
