Professor Gwen van der Velden leads an Academy of Educators at the University of Warwick. She was a member of HEFCE’s HE Public Information Steering Group that reviewed the NSS and was chair of the NSS subgroup of the Student Information Advisory Group, but here she writes in a personal capacity.
