Annika Bautz is Pro Vice Chancellor Education at the University of Surrey, where she leads the university’s education portfolio, including her recent work to embed discipline-specific AI teaching and prepare students for the ways AI is changing knowledge, judgement, professional practice and the future of work. She is seconded to the role from her substantive post as Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences. Across her leadership roles, her work has focused on education for a digitally disrupted world, preparing graduates not only to enter work, but to shape it and respond to disruptive futures. She is Professor of English Literature, with research expertise in book history and the reception of nineteenth-century literature.
