Director of Research and Enterprise Development (RED), University of Bristol

Expires

29th July 2018

The University is located in the heart of the city of Bristol, and is a major force in the economic, social and cultural life of one of the most beautiful and liveable cities in Europe. Bristol is an extraordinary global city with a powerful tradition of enterprise, exploration and non-conformism. It is a Social Enterprise City and the UK’s first European Green Capital. It was recently voted one of the UK’s five Centres of Cultural Excellence, and is repeatedly voted the most liveable city in the UK.

Research and Enterprise Development (RED) was created in 2000 and has grown, developed and evolved to be a key player in the research, knowledge exchange and enterprise space within the University, the city of Bristol and the UK. RED is also recognised both within the University and across the sector as a high performing Division.

The purpose of RED is simple: to help keep the University at the forefront of research excellence, to encourage a positive culture of research integrity, to support improved impact of research outcomes and to foster an enterprise culture that is embraced by those who work at the University. The Division consists of a diverse group of skilled and committed specialists, who work within and across professional teams, and helps underpin the University’s core mission.

Working with academics, RED is there to advise and help them obtain research funding that leads to fundamental advances in knowledge from a range of organisations. RED also provides a framework around which collaborations and partnerships, particularly with major funders, other universities and industry, and the city-region, can develop.
