Expires

29th July 2018

As a key member of the University’s new Planning & Analytics Office (PAO), you will lead the development of institutional data science capability in order to inform strategy, planning and decision making across the University.

This high profile role will enable you to apply your passion for statistics, data analysis and modelling. You will lead the development of segmentations, forecast models and predictive analytics to help the University build a sophisticated understanding of its applicants and students, its performance and its market position including sector rankings. You will work closely with colleagues across the University – in the Executive, Faculties and Professional Services – to ensure this enhanced business intelligence enables the University to achieve its mission: Advancing Knowledge, Transforming Lives.

You will possess a degree (ideally at postgraduate level) in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar. You will have significant experience of working in a data science related role, with a deep understanding of applied statistics and principles of experimentation together with the ability to effectively convey complicated information in a variety of clear, concise and meaningful formats. You should have a strong working knowledge of at least one programming language associated with data science (e.g., R, Python, etc.), and experience of working in higher education will be advantageous but not essential.

PAO provides the critical foundation for a data-driven and strategy-led culture that enables the University to deliver its strategy. You will be part of its management team, overseeing the Data, Statistics & Statutory Returns function whilst providing critical technical leadership on data science to the Systems, Analytics & Reporting function. You will lead a programme of data science activity and provide critical inputs into data transformation projects including the University’s preparation for HESA Data Futures. You will work closely with colleagues in the Planning, Risk & Insight and Strategic Projects functions to ensure your important work has the greatest possible impact.
