Never let it be said that those compiling university league tables have anything other than the firmest grip on reality.
However, some rankings, sometimes, require a bit more in the way of creativity. A while back we proudly presented the first ever ranking of fictional universities and its now time to revisit that list, following all the (very real) representations made by many a critical ranker. So, we offer once again this welcome counterweight to the harsh realities of the real rankings with an entirely made up league table featuring fictional universities from movies, books and TV (or some other entertaining purpose).
Now with our new data partner we have the most accurate, precise, data rich and exciting ranking ever of fictional institutions. And there have been some major changes in those appearing in the upper reaches of the table. The algorithms here are simply too complex to explain so you’ll just have to take it from us, it’s all good.
Anyway, here are the all new top placings.

It’s all change then in the top 30 with some really big made up colleges dropping out including Manchester Medlock University, Athena College, Hampden College, Jocelyn College and Winesburg College. No place either for the long established Lowlands University, Watermouth University or Burston Central University.
The vice chancellors of Kirke University, Poppleton University, Sims University, and Faber College will also have some explaining to do to their governors about their no-show this year.
Hudson University doesn’t make it? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_University
Christminster doesn’t even have a wikipedia entry. Deeply offended 🙂
I can’t help but feel that Unseen University should have ranked higher. Presumably the employability metrics fail to adequately reflect the high degree of successful self-employment in the wizarding community, not to mention the wizards’ outreach activities with their local catering providers.
University of California, Sunnyvale? Sunnydale, surely!
CECC’s Film Festival looks amazing! http://coweye.org/filmfestival.htm
Bantshire University will be livid
