Rami Al-Sharif is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Adam Smith Business School, where he completed his PhD in Management. Before entering academia, he spent over four years in the banking sector and undertook consultancy work for a London-based not-for-profit, alongside gaining experience in international entrepreneurship.

Rami’s research explores identity work, identity threat, authenticity, fairness, and organisational trust, with a particular focus on how HRM policies can foster inclusive, safe, and enabling environments for stigmatised groups to thrive. His work also examines young people’s experiences of work and crime. He has published in leading journals, including the Journal of Occupational and Organisational Psychology.

He is especially passionate about refugee integration in the UK labour market and wider society, and is committed to bridging research, policy, and practice to support displaced individuals. He is also dedicated to advancing inclusive learning environments through international partnerships, with a particular emphasis on widening participation in entrepreneurship and higher education for underrepresented groups, including women and students from marginalised backgrounds. His work in this area focuses on creating supportive, identity-safe spaces for learning, fostering cross-cultural collaboration, and ensuring that diverse student voices are recognised, valued, and able to thrive within globalised higher education systems.

Rami is an academic member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE). He is also a member of the First International Network on Trust (FINT) and the European Network of Selection Researchers (ENESER).
