Planning & Analytics Office

Salary: Senior Manager Scale (£50-60k per annum)

At the University of Plymouth, it is in our nature to innovate – be that in our teaching or in our research.  We strive for the highest quality in all that we do – pushing boundaries isn’t just encouraged, it is expected.

We currently have opportunities within the Planning & Analytics Office where we are seeking people to contribute to our journey, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas. If you are eager for a fresh challenge and want to build your career with a University which has ambition then we want to hear from you.

The Planning & Analytics Office (PAO) is the engine room enabling the University to deliver its strategy by informing strategic decisions, advising on strategic actions, and enabling strategic planning and change.  PAO provides critical, foundational services for a data-driven, strategy-led and collaborative culture.

To ensure we continue to operate ahead of the curve in an informed way, we have created two critical new senior management roles, the Head of Data Analytics and the Head of Strategic Planning, delivering new and enhanced capability in these critical areas of activity for the University.  For further information on the Head of Data Analytics role, please visit here  and search for job reference A6463.

This is a great opportunity to join a newly-organised team, set the future direction and, as part of the senior management team, play a critical part in making PAO leading-edge in sector strategic planning.

The Head of Strategic Planning is responsible for leading the strategic planning activity of PAO, ensuring that University strategy is developed and applied in an integrated, agile framework, based on a sophisticated understanding of the external environment.

We are looking for someone who will lead the team in delivering a range of planning, policy and insight services, whilst working closely with senior leaders to develop scenarios and options, and formulate strategic plans and initiatives, transforming the lives of our students and delivering our ambitions for education and research.

Active externally, you will be the University’s management-level contact point with the Office for Students, analysing developments in the HE operating environment, generating external perspectives on the relative positioning of the University and its academic portfolio, and providing expert insight into market dynamics to optimise the University’s core undergraduate student recruitment activity and support further growth in critical postgraduate and international markets.

For an informal discussion, please contact Tim Sydenham, Head of PAO, by email (tim.sydenham@plymouth.ac.uk) to arrange a telephone conversation.

Interviews are likely to take place w/c 3rd June 2019 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.

A relocation package is available with this role.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Closing Date:  12 midnight, Thursday 9 May 2019
