Students’ Union UCL is an organisation that exists to make more happen. We are the representative body for University College London’s (UCL) students, one of the most diverse student communities in the world. It’s an exciting time our growing organisation as the delivery partner for UCL’s new Student Life Strategy. In 2023 we received a multi-million-pound investment to enhance student life at UCL. The financial backing from our parent university is recognition of the transformative effect that extra and co-curricular experiences have on students at UCL – helping them develop skills, build networks, reduce loneliness and isolation, grow in confidence, and enjoy their time here.

We are looking for a Head of Policy, Representation and Evaluation

The Head of Policy, Representation & Evaluation will lead the Policy and Research team and the Representation and Democracy team to produce high impact reports, publications and dissemination events which put the outcomes of our research, representation, evaluation and insight work at the centre of UCL’s decision making and also impact national policymakers. This role will work closely with our elected student leaders and Senior Management Team.

The role is a full-time and permanent contract. This role is also a hybrid working role, where 40% of the role will be on campus based.

Have you got previous experience of undertaking impactful research studies and building analytics systems, including statistical analysis of large amounts of quantitative and qualitative datas? Have you got experience of empowering young people and influencing for policy and attitude changes within a charitable context, including collecting data to inform this work? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate will provide leadership to the staff, shaping the strategic direction whilst inspiring the team to deliver an excellent and cohesive service. This is a unique new role and will involve ensuring both teams are aligned to, and actively engaged with the creation of, the Students’ Union UCL strategy and planning process. The right candidate will lead on evaluation design and implementation, working across the organisation to develop a culture of evaluation and measurement.
