Head of International and Professor/Reader – Faculty of Arts and Humanities

Expires

6th May 2019

Manchester Metropolitan hosts around 3,000 international students, has over 270,000 alumni, and has successful partnerships and research collaborations around the World. We recognise and value the contribution that international students and colleagues make to our University and we have ambitions to enhance our global connections even further.

To achieve this, we are looking to appoint a Head of International to join our Faculty Executive team. This is a key post, and you will work closely with the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellors for Arts and Humanities to deliver and evolve a successful international strategy. You will be highly respected in your field, and will possess a strong global outlook with experience of developing international partnerships that deliver value. This post provides an excellent opportunity to further your academic career in a key leadership role.

The Role:

Reporting to the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor and working closely with the Pro-Vice Chancellor for International and other senior colleagues, you will implement our Faculty strategy designed to increase the diversity of our student population, build international partnerships for transnational education (TNE) and research, and to enhance our global presence. It is a rotational role, so as well as leading on internationalisation, you will be encouraged to pursue your own academic interests.

Experience of working in international contexts with a wide range of clients and stakeholders is essential.

Ideal Candidate:

You will be an experienced academic with a strong research and teaching track record. Personally, you will bring a positive, inclusive, and collegial leadership style coupled with strong strategic vision: much hinges on your ability to scan the horizon and to come up with innovative responses. You will need credibility and the ability to foster fruitful relationships: both internally, with university decision-makers, Faculty colleagues and our International Office and, externally, with international networks and partnerships.

Last, but not least, you must have a clear grasp of the issues facing HE in the UK and globally, and the strategies needed to overcome them.

We are a university with global reach that is intent on setting and shaping the academic agenda. With a prominent position at the heart of the UK’s Northern Powerhouse, an enviable financial platform, an award-winning estate and ambitious investment plans, few universities are better placed to succeed. Whoever you are, wherever you are and whatever you want to achieve, if you have the drive, we will support you and help you make your mark on the world.
