With the campaign for the 2015 General Election drawing to an end, the likelihood of a coalition or a more informal agreement between a major party and at least one other seems ever greater. In this new political landscape there is an unprecedented opportunity for smaller parties to take up the mantle.

At this discussion event we take a look at what the potential partners in a future government are promising in their manifesto.

In the debate, we’ll consider each of the Liberal Democrat, SNP and UKIP manifestos and ask:

  • What’s the most distinctive policy or ambition, compared to the manifestos of the two major parties?
  • Where has the manifesto held back from what the party leadership perhaps really thinks?
  • What is the biggest policy commitment they are likely to fight for in a coalition deal?
  • And what will they have to jettison if coalition is on the cards?
