Universities UK (UUK) is the collective voice for 140 universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our mission is to support our world-leading Higher Education sector in increasing its impact locally, nationally and internationally. We deliver this through shaping national and international policy; building public understanding of the quality and impact of the sector; offering support and guidance to our members and, advocating for the UK higher education sector in the UK and overseas. Located in offices in Bloomsbury, London, Universities UK will be  led by Chief Executive Officer Vivienne Stern MBE from 1 September 2022 and the UUK Group comprises 150 staff.

Universities UK International (UUKi) is a specialist unit of 20+ staff within UUK representing UK universities on the global stage. An influential, trusted and credible voice for UK universities internationally, we focus on support and partnership for our members in their aims to grow and diversify onshore recruitment of international students; enhance the scale and impact of international research collaboration; support transnational education; and increase opportunities for international experience for UK students. We play a critical role influencing UK and international policy and regulatory contexts and creating diverse opportunities through strategic partnerships.

The Director of UUK International is a key leadership role at UUK, providing strategic direction to UUKi.  This is a critical position, where political, partnership and stakeholder relationship experience and good judgement are essential, as well as being able to motivate and manage a talented and impactful team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director will work closely with UUK’s President and Board and offer support and counsel to members and their global engagement teams.

Candidates will be strongly motivated by our mission and vision and will bring a successful track record of leading strategic development, implementation, and management of partnerships, research and external engagement in a global context. A passion for the transformative impact of higher education is essential.
