Wonkhe is the home of higher education policy, politics and people. Core to our business is keeping universities up to date about what’s going on in the busy news and policy agenda. Our prestigious email briefings, website and social media channels are depended on by senior leaders and policymakers for business and sector intelligence and analysis of UK HE.

We have an opening for an important role for circa two days a week to ensure our grid and forward planning intelligence is accurate and always up to date. Your tasks will be to:

  • Manage the Wonkhe calendar and grid, using desk-research and regular systematic communications with stakeholders to identify upcoming reports, deadlines, statistical releases, policy developments, key news and events in the UK HE sector, devolved parliaments, across related sections of civil society.
  • Scour the news and social media to provide a daily round-up of what is being said by and about the sector, including news analysis and some interpretation of policy reports.
  • Contribute to our daily email briefings.
  • Liaise with other members of the team to ensure that they have the information they need in delivering our information products and public website.

Person Spec:

  • An acute sense of attention to detail in all work and pride for achieving accuracy.
  • An understanding of the higher education sector or an interest in universities, politics and media.
  • Strong desk-research and investigatory skills.
  • First class interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Unflappable nature and able to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A self-starter, able to work independently without close supervision.
  • Highly technically competent and a fast learner in new software and publishing environments.

It would also suit someone who is happy to cover early morning shifts from home. In return we can offer you an opportunity to be part of a small dynamic team at an exciting point of development who are all passionate about our organisation’s success.
