The external examination system is anachronistic and a waste of time and resources. The sector needs to stop simply tinkering with it and consider more drastic reform, argues Katie Akerman.
Katie is Director of Quality and Standards at the University of Chichester. Her career in higher education started 17 years ago at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and she has worked at Southampton, Winchester and Bath Spa, as well as for the Quality Assurance Agency.
