Sammy Shummo is Group Director of Business Engagement, Skills and Training at London South Bank University Group, where he leads the Group’s approach to apprenticeships, employer partnerships, skills development and work-based learning across its university, colleges and schools.
With nearly two decades of experience spanning further and higher education, Sammy has helped drive significant growth in LSBU Group’s apprenticeship provision, which now supports around 3,500 apprentices across more than 40 standards. His work focuses on creating clear pathways from further education into higher and degree apprenticeships, strengthening employer partnerships and improving quality, achievement and progression.
Sammy is a Board Director of the University Vocational Awards Council and a trustee of Gateway Qualifications and Workwhile. He also contributes to national and regional discussions on apprenticeship policy, funding and reform, including parliamentary evidence and engagement with Skills England. He is a strong advocate for apprenticeships as a powerful route into employment, career progression and inclusive economic growth.
