Miriam Frankel is science editor for The Conversation UK and an occasional freelance writer. She has previously worked as reporter and news editor of Research Fortnight, a specialist publication focusing on science, technology and higher education policy. She has written for publications including New Scientist, Nature, Physics World and several Swedish magazines. She also has a background as a PhD student in atomic physics, specialising in laboratory astrophysics.
