Claire is professor of higher education policy at Birkbeck and professor of higher education studies at UCL Institute of Education. Her research and writing has focused on student finances and issues related to the topic. She has been commissioned to undertake research for some of the most significant committees of inquires into student funding in the UK since 1997 and works on numerous research projects for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and others in higher education.
