Director, National Audit Office
Charles has spent a number of years as Director of the National Audit Office team examining delivery of public policy in the science, innovation and technology sectors, and previously in the areas of regulation, competition, and consumer protection.
He is a qualified chartered accountant with extensive experience of working in the public sector and international agencies, and has published a large body of work covering regulatory evaluations, and measuring regulatory performance. In addition to his work for the National Audit Office he has delivered evaluation and capacity building projects for the United Nations, the European Union, and various governments within Europe. He previously worked in the City, and is chair of a charity supporting vulnerable young people in London and the South East.
