Welcome to Wonkhe 5.0

An introduction to our new look and feel.

Mark is founder and Editor in Chief of Wonkhe

It’s our eighth birthday. And what an eight years it has been. From years as my hobby while working in the sector, to a micro company with just me and my laptop, to what we have now – it sort of became a “thing” somewhere along the way. I’m not sure whether it was the pension scheme, or the introduction of a secret santa that tipped the balance, but we have a growing team of twelve, a new office in Farringdon, and now a whole new look to more closely match our personality, and our big plans for the future.

Alongside the growth in the team, everything that Wonkhe does has grown. From where we started (and proudly continue) to lead and shape the UK debate with the best analysis you’ll find anywhere, and the most diverse range of voices from within and without the sector, to Daily email briefings, now Wonkhe Live – our new monthly event – Wonkfest (our massive annual jamboree about everything HE), our new Plus subscription to help you stay ahead of the curve… and some exciting new announcements still to follow in the coming weeks. We couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.

Here’s a little reflection on the past few years and a video to introduce the new look:

I am really pleased with the new design and excited to roll it out this month across all of our products and services. You may have noticed already, but the mortarboard has gone, to give way to a new logo that manages to better reflect our irreverent nature, and also signals the next step in our maturity as a platform and a community. The many different fonts represent the differing voices and perspectives that we carry. A more vibrant colour palette really makes it all pop. I’m thrilled with it, and so glad to get it out in the world after months of work.

The website has had some minor cosmetic changes to bring it in line with the new look, but much deeper improvements will follow in the coming weeks as we continue our work in bringing the new-look Wonkhe to life. I hope you enjoy it – and forgive any glitches while we work.

Mark
