Durham is seeking to appoint a Vice-Provost (Research) to join the University’s senior leadership team, the University Executive Committee (UEC: Chaired by the Vice Chancellor and Warden). Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, the Vice-Provost (Research) will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the University’s research strategy and for line-managing the Director of Research and Innovation Services. The Vice-Provost (Research) will provide dynamic intellectual leadership and management for a diverse University with an international outlook that is already performing strongly, leading Durham’s research strategy as it responds to the evolving research landscape.

The University is seeking an ambitious and innovative research leader with a strong track record of published research at the highest level. The Vice-Provost (Research) will have a proven ability in strategic and analytical thinking in relation to research, and an understanding of how to deliver the highest quality research, both disciplinary and inter/multidisciplinary, across the sciences, social sciences and humanities. Alongside these leadership responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to continue their personal research endeavours.
