As a Student Support Officer within the Student Support & Advice team you will provide a holistic and accessible advice and guidance service to students who are struggling on their course, have had a change of circumstances or are experiencing life events that may be impacting on their studies.

You will work with other members of the student support and advice team, the student information desk (SID) staff, personal tutors and specialist student support services to ensure a comprehensive support offer for students, bridging those services and acting as a conduit for information and advice. You will help students understand the academic rules and regulations and work alongside other specialist support services to ensure students have full access to the support they need. You will support students to consider the options available to them and provide them with information to make informed decisions.

About you

The successful candidate will be compassionate and committed to providing high quality customer service, with current experience of providing support, preferably within an education environment. The successful candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills and will be able demonstrate empathy for those in distress. We are looking for a team player with a positive and flexible attitude who can also work independently with the ability to plan and manage their workload.

Qualifications

Essential:

Education to A level/NVQ level 3 with GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade 6 or the equivalent.

Willingness to undertake further education and/or training and development

Desirable:

Degree (any subject)
