The British Academy – the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking a Senior Policy Adviser (HE & Skills) to provide expertise and strategic input into the framing and development of the Academy’s HE and skills programme, with specific responsibility for certain themes and activities.

The post holder will take a lead role in the development, design and delivery of HE and skills policy outputs, activities and communications, including organising events, preparing briefings, consultation responses, statements, speeches, programmes and promotional copy, undertaking analysis and background research as necessary.

The role involves identifying and pursuing opportunities for engagement with external organisations and stakeholders, forging new relationships and maximising established ones, in pursuit of the Academy’s strategic objectives, with a view to cultivating and maintaining relationships with academic experts within and outside the Academy and ensuring the effective use of expertise necessary for the delivery of activities.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable understanding of the landscape of UK higher education, be a creative and strategic thinker, with experience of policy analysis, development and/or implementation. They will have a strong understanding of the broader policy environment as it relates to HE and research, and can utilise this when engaging with stakeholders and experts who influence and shape policy.

Salary: £37,500 per annum
