Secretary to the Board and Head of Governance

Expires

6th October 2019

Northumbria University is transforming to take on tomorrow.  Our Vision is to be a research-rich, business-focused professional university with a global reputation for academic excellence.  As Secretary to the Board of Governors and Head of Governance, you will play a key enabling role. You will help our Governors and Executive to work together: enabling Governors to support and constructively challenge implementation of our University Strategy 2018-23; and working as a member of the Executive to secure agreement to plans and investment.

You will be a confident governance expert, ambitious to make a difference in a university with a growing reputation as a challenger institution. You will lead an effective governance and assurance team at a time when these are under significant external scrutiny. You will be a strong influencer, enable innovation and support compliance. Through your membership of the University Executive you will play a senior leadership role across the whole institution. You will lead specific compliance work on Prevent and Safeguarding.

This is a particularly exciting time for this role as we will soon appoint a new chair and a number of new independent governors. The role holder will be instrumental in introducing them into the University and ensuring a smooth transition.
