Academic & Corporate Governance at the University of Dundee sets standards, develops consistent policies, and supports decision-making by means of compliant processes across the breadth of the University’s activities from the University’s Governing Body and Senate to the University Executive Group and School management teams. It also acts as the steward of key governance, policy and procedural documents and processes. Staff in the Directorate are organised across 4 key units (Global Partnerships, Legal, Quality & Academic Standards and Secretariat) and represent key sources of leadership, knowledge, expertise and guidance.

This post will be within the Quality & Academic Standards team and will manage the quality assurance activities related to collaborative partnerships both new and current, ensuring that the University is equipped to set and maintain their academic standards. The Quality & Academic Standards Collaborative Partnerships Manager will work as part of a team of dedicated quality assurance and standards staff within the directorate. They will work closely with the Global Partnership and Legal teams as well as a range of colleagues across the Directorates and academic Schools.

The Quality & Academic Standards Collaborative Partnerships Manager will work closely with, and provide support and expert advice to, the Director of Quality & Academic Standards and the Vice-Principals Education and International as well as being a source of advice and guidance to other colleagues.

Your priorities will include:

  1. Oversight and management of the quality and academic standards of University collaborative partnerships including but not limited to your development, approval and the subsequent annual and periodic review, external examination, and other monitoring requirements
  2. To keep up to date with UK and international policy for the assurance of quality and academic standards in collaborative partnerships, by attending conferences and developing your professional network across the sector. You will act as an expert advisor on these matters and create and deliver briefings and training to colleagues and collaborative partners
  3. To lead the enhancement of the University’s procedures and policies for the assurance and enhancement of the quality of learning and teaching and postgraduate research supervision in collaborative partnerships, ensuring appropriate consultation and collaboration, and submissions to QASC and other relevant committees
  4. To act as an advisor for collaborative partners in preparation for external review events

Who we’re looking for:

  1. Educated to SCQF level 10 or equivalent
  2. Previous experience of working with academic partnership activity in higher education
  3. A thorough understanding of academic quality and standards and enhancement frameworks, processes and policies as relates to collaborative partnerships and their development and oversight
  4. Track record of independent working, managing varied and complex workloads, progressing tasks and projects simultaneously, whilst managing accuracy and meeting deadlines
  5. Effective team and inter-team working along with experience of providing advice and guidance on the applications of policy and regulation
  6. A comprehensive understanding of the current environment in which higher education operates
  7. Commitment to best practice and transparency and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with students and staff at all levels both within the University and at external partner institution, with tack, diplomacy and discretion.
  8. Availability to travel in the UK and overseas in relation to the development and management of partnerships when required
