The role
We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven peoples person who will be able to drive new business and grow philanthropic income for the University, securing six and seven figure philanthropic gifts through corporates, wealthy individuals (alumni and non-alumni), trusts and foundations both in the UK and internationally.

Skills and experience

You will be responsible for shaping and driving forward a pipeline of prospects with a view to developing meaningful, long-term relationships. In doing so, you will work closely with colleagues across England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales to identify, explore and optimise funding needs and existing relationships, globally.

This will require you to design and implement cultivation and stewardship strategies for prospects and donors in order to ensure targets are realistic yet ambitious, and funding propositions are suitably tailored to create a compelling narrative.

You will be a strong writer, crafting high calibre proposals and devising creative and compelling propositions working with academics and colleagues.
We would like to see you bring knowledge of the funding environment and practices, compliance and legal requirements, and an understanding of how to apply those to generating opportunities to grow income.
You will be able to use your judgement and sensitivity in the anticipation and resolution of any issues that could result in any damage to the OU’s reputation and above all, find resonance with the OU’s mission and values.
