The Department of Computer Science, located within The School of Science and Technology, delivers high quality teaching, research and consultancy across several disciplines including computer science, informatics and networking / telecommunications.

The department has steadily acquired a reputation for its innovative undergraduate teaching and supportive research environment. In REF2014, 56 staff where submitted leading to an excellent REF outcome. In the Computer Science and Informatics unit of submission, Middlesex was placed 13thfor power rankings overall across the sector. In the London area alone, the Research Fortnight Power rankings placed Middlesex as the 4thlargest department for computing research.

The department is continuing to grow and we are are seeking to appoint a new academic to contribute to our research and teaching profile. This appointment may be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants will hold a PhD in an appropriate area and have an independent or developing research programme in a field related or complementary to existing strengths with the department. Equivalent long industrial experience in advanced Computing R&D will be considered.

Applicants will be able to contribute to our teaching portfolio in the areas of Informatics, Computer Science and specifically in Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Cyber Security or Communications to include real-time systems and enterprise systems. Applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability to engage students and to motivate them to perform at their best. As in any academic position, the role will also involve the administrative duties associated with a busy academic and research-active environment.
