Purpose and Main Duties
The post-holder will help academic colleagues to strengthen the impact of research in the Department of Psychological Sciences (5th in REF2014 having gained 100% 4* for the impact case studies) such that it results in further economic and/or social benefit to the UK. She/he will work with academics on producing case studies for the Research Excellence Framework and developing knowledge transfer and other activities which enhance impact from the grant application stage onwards.
Providing advice on impact at all stages of the research lifecycle to staff is an important part of the role, as is responsibility for producing the web content in relation to research impact, ensuring that it is accessible to a diverse audience from a variety of backgrounds. Acting as the external contact for the department as regards impact, you will liaise with peers at outside events, whilst another important aspect of this interesting and varied position will be to develop and deliver internal workshops and training resources on impact for academic staff.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in higher education research administration (with specific knowledge of research techniques, processes and methodologies) is expected, as is evidence of report writing and analytical ability. Adept in the use of monitoring and evaluation procedures and able to develop policy, plans and agreed standards, you will also have a detailed understanding of the research environment, competency in the use of database and spreadsheet packages, and the ability to communicate information in a clear, concise manner. A background in Psychology would be extremely desirable.
