The Student Support, Health and Wellbeing Department is part of the Education and Student Experience Directorate, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Designate).

The Department’s vision is to support and facilitate the delivery of an outstanding student experience for all students at Canterbury Christ Church University, through the delivery of enabling, responsive and student-centred services. The Department offers support and advice to students at the University’s campuses and remotely.

The Role

In this senior position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Director of Student Experience in enhancing student wellbeing at the University. As part of the Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Designate) Senior Leadership Group, you will work with colleagues across the University and in the Christ Church Students’ Union, in actively engaging in the University’s strategic agenda around student and staff mental wellbeing.

You will provide strategic leadership to the Student Support, Health and Wellbeing Department, you will manage a team of senior service managers and work with external service providers to ensure that the student population has appropriate access to disability, mental health and wellbeing and occupational health services. You will be the University’s Lead Safeguarding Officer.

The Person

As a self-motivated, proactive and positive senior manager, you will have substantial strategic management experience and strong leadership skills, with a demonstrable track record of leading transformational change.

You will hold a professional qualification in an appropriate discipline and be educated to degree level or equivalent, with current accreditation by a professional body, such as NMC, HCPC or BPS. You will have substantial experience in a similar or related role, including in the delivery of mental health services.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory and legislative frameworks. You will have a strong interest in evaluating service delivery and using data to drive decision making to bring about change and to enhance services.
