Cardiff Met Students’ Union (SU) is a student membership organisation that represents over 11,000 students at Cardiff Metropolitan University. We aim to support and empower students by representing their views and providing a range of services, events, and activities to enhance the university experience.
Cardiff Met SU is seeking to recruit a full time Head of Student Engagement to lead the student engagement team to further develop our engagement with our members. You’ll be the senior staff member responsible for increasing our engagement with the student membership, leading a team responsible for student voice, student advice and student opportunities. You will also help to support the SU’s student leadership team whilst creating meaningful partnership with the University to create and deliver opportunities for students.
We are passionate about making our teams representative of the students we support and the communities we operate within. We therefore especially welcome applications from candidates typically underrepresented in leadership roles.
Role Summary:
The Head of Student Engagement will be responsible for a team of staff working across a range of student engagement areas within the SU to create and enhance opportunities for students to get involved in their SU.
This role requires a proven ability to build partnerships and to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including students, staff, and external organisations to create opportunities and making meaningful change.
Working with SU staff, the Sabbatical Officers and in partnership with the University you will engage members in the areas of student voice, societies, advice and support, The Cardiff Met Award, workshops, wellbeing, and student life.
Key Responsibilities:
Be a senior leader within the organisation, setting high standards for leadership and management.
Recruit, train and manage new members of the SU student engagement team.
Review and identifying opportunities to increase engagement with a diverse student membership.
Analyse data and monitor feedback on SU services to create improvement plans for student engagement.
Manage the democratic functions of the SU and support the Sabbatical Officer team to deliver student representation in partnership with academic schools.
Act as Deputy Returning Officer in the SU Elections
Lead the recruitment and training of the SU School Rep and SU Part-Time Officer teams.
Maintain and further develop the SU’s links within the University to support partnership work in the areas of student engagement.
Deliver the SU’s annual membership engagement survey.
