This is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to join a newly formed senior management team within the University of Nottingham’s Research and Innovation team.

Research and Innovation supports the University of Nottingham throughout the research and innovation lifecycle – from first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships – from developing PhD students to supporting the University’s world-class research leaders.

We develop, promote and support teaching and learning linkages with businesses across a range of activities from short courses and continuing professional development through to higher degree apprenticeships.

We are being experts in our fields, taking a customer focused approach and being proactive in working with academics and external partners.

 

Head of Strategy, Policy, Performance and Impact

The role holder will lead development and evolution of the University’s Research and Impact Strategy in conjunction with the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellors and the Director.

The role holder will lead a highly skilled central team who support the academic leadership of the University across the full range of Research and Innovation’s activities.

The role holder will be responsible and accountable for developing and delivering the detail of the University’s Research and Impact strategy, ensuring that key project are defined and delivered and that major and strategic bids receive the best support the University can offer.

The role holder and team will be responsible for the definition, production and analysis of a range of management information / performance management information to support the University’s research and innovation activities. The role holder and team will use the information to develop any necessary corrective actions, ensuring that actions are implemented as required across Research and Innovation or the wider University.

The role holder and team will, in conjunction with the PVC / APVCs, develop and implement the University’s strategy for REF submission including researching, developing and collating evidence of impact.

The role holder will be the University’s expert on research and innovation strategy, able to contribute, influence and have the potential to lead at a national level in line with the University’s position as a large Russell Group University.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to at least degree level and have significant experience in the field or in wider strategy development and implementation.
