Expires

24th March 2019

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic Operations Manager for the School of Education. This is a crucial post in the College of Social Sciences in which the post holder works closely with the College Director of Operations, the Head of School and the College Director of Internationalisation who all play key roles in College decision-making, policy and strategy.   The School of Education has a long-standing reputation as a centre of excellence for teaching and research in a wide range of areas of educational practice and policy. It is an international leader in education and has a history of top rated research.

The role of the Head of Operations (HoOp) is to provide effective leadership and management of the School’s professional services staff, working closely with staff across the College and, as necessary, from within the wider University.   In addition, the HoOp will support the Head of School and be an integral member of the School’s senior leadership team.

The HoOp will take a senior leadership role within the College and work closely with the professional services senior management team (PSSMT) to ensure that the College’s professional services teams provide an outstanding service to enable the College to achieve strategic goals. The HoOp will also be required to lead on the cross College support for Research to support the College Director of Internationalisation.  This will include overseeing professional service support for international activity, as well as occasional projects. This is likely to equate to up to 40% of the role.

It is expected that applicants will be degree-educated and have experience of working within HE and preferably the Social Sciences environment. A commitment to the delivery of exceptional customer service is essential along with excellent communication skills.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for either an established Head of Operations wishing to work in the Social Sciences, or an experienced HE professional looking to gain experience in a new professional environment and lead professional services support for research.
