Point Blank is a leading, specialist Music Production School in the UK. Awarded TEF Silver recognition for excellence in higher education teaching, we have a reputation for giving our students a unique and high quality experience, as evidenced by our 86% overall student satisfaction score (NSS 2019). Our degree courses are validated by Middlesex University and we are expanding to meet demand as well as increasing the course portfolio. We are seeking a Head of Marketing and Communications to lead a team of professionals and manage communications and public relations.

You will be a committed team player with proven experience of leading a team. You will have extensive experience delivering successful marketing campaigns within a higher education environment and be an expert in digital marketing. You will be responsible for creating and delivering a strategy to increase student recruitment and educational reputation of the school. You’ll demonstrate the measurable positive effects of your campaigns with an increase in student numbers.

You’ll be involved in raising the domestic and international profile of the school, creating new partnerships with brands, record labels, artists, DJs, equipment manufacturers and industry events, so a passion for music is ideal. As head of department, you’ll be adept at problem solving and be able to think on your feet. Although office-based, this role regularly involves working out of office hours and attending relevant music industry events.

Qualifications & Experience
• Professionally qualified with a relevant degree/postgraduate qualification, plus a significant number of years’ relevant leadership experience.
• Substantial and extensive vocational experience in a University and/or private HE provider demonstrating professional development and achievement in a series of progressively more demanding and influential roles.
• Knowledge of the Higher Education admissions cycles and experience delivering campaigns to increase student recruitment.
• CIM qualification relevant to the level of this role and/ or chartered status is desirable.
• Digital marketing qualifications relevant to the level of this role is desirable.

Strategy & Planning / Budget Management
• Conceive exciting and creative marketing campaigns.
• Define digital marketing strategy and priorities, set key performance indicators and goals for campaigns.
• Delivery a marketing strategy which incorporates Higher Education initiatives, partners and events.
• Define outreach and university event annual strategy and promotion.
• Set targets, budgets, campaigns and timelines.
• Contribute to inter-departmental and senior management meetings. Ensure strategy aligns with wider departmental and business objectives, working closely with other teams including Registry and Education.
• Lead on Point Blank’s outreach initiatives and contribute to the school’s widening participation strategy.
• Lead effective cross-departmental projects, bringing in relevant members of staff.
• Research and apply for industry awards as appropriate.
• Define content strategy and deployment.
• Create and manage communication plans and campaigns to provide regular information to current students and graduates.

Team Management
• Management of the marketing team (inclusive of events and careers), including regular meetings and appropriate project oversight, proofing, guidance and approvals.
• Oversight of the whole marketing team, including advertising, blog and socials, video content, student engagement, student opportunities, events and industry partnerships.
• Monitor and set objectives for team members, review progress and KPIs.
• Induction, training and development of team members.

Reporting & Analysis
• Inform and discuss campaign performance with senior management. Make recommendations and readjust priorities within the team.
• Create and maintain a centralised budget and timeline. Ensure that this is weighted appropriately to maximise engagement, impact and return.
• Review monthly expenditure across the department, including advertising spend.
• Use and interpret all relevant data to review strategy and priorities. Includes student survey feedback (eg. NSS), Graduate Outcomes, advertising performance and Google Analytics.
• Define International spend and priorities.

Partnerships Management
• Establish a wide range of partners to further the brand and enhance the student experience.
• Develop a wide network of websites to amplify key marketing messages and video content.
• Create joint marketing campaigns with equipment manufacturers, technology providers, artists, music producers, DJs, record labels and other music industry organisations.
• Develop partnerships with schools and other educational organisations.
• Strategic input into video content with partners.
• Work with event organisers and partners to ensure effective presence at internal and external events.

International Marketing
• Coordinate marketing activity with our international schools. Includes event programming, partnerships, guest masterclasses and promotion.
• Lead regular remote meetings as necessary.
