The role

The Enterprise and Research Commercialisation Manager will be part of a central Research and Enterprise team and will plan and deliver exploitation activity to realise the commercial value of University research through direct engagement with industry, charities and public bodies. The post holder will have two key roles, (i) to manage the University’s existing Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) portfolio and develop opportunities for new KTPs, including the development of new partnerships and (ii) to identify commercialisation opportunities across the OU and support their development and external promotion and

 

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone with experience of business development activities who can identify enterprise or commercial opportunities of research outputs and determine its value to the University through generating income, impact or partnership opportunities.

The postholder will ideally have broad experience of working with academics to identify commercially valuable IP and have the skills required to determine market opportunities and plan how IP should be exploited.  Experience with Innovate UK funding and/or  KTPs is essential.

The role requires excellent communication, organisational and project management skills, the ability to develop funding applications and experience of business development activities, including the generation of new partnerships with SMEs and larger organisations across the UK.
